For Chloe Mattivi ā23, her experience as a Davis College of Business Deanās Fellow helped her land an internship at one of the top local companies in Jacksonville.
Mattivi, a marketing major with a Spanish minor, wanted a chance to learn more about the marketing field through an internship this summer. Her resume caught the attention of a Miller Electric Company recruiter.
āThe opportunity came to me from the Davis College of Business Deanās Fellows Resume Book,ā Mattivi said. āMy resume was included, and it came across a recruiterās desk who reached out to me to see if I would be interested in interviewing.ā
Itās easy to see why Mattiviās resume stood out. Highlights include her current role as a captain and social media manager of the JU Shooting Team, Green Key Honor Society member, Zimmerman Scholar and DCOB peer advisor.
Green Key members are in the top 1% of their class, based on academics and involvement. JUās Zimmerman Scholars Program, which launched last year, accepted 15 students into its first cohort. The program provides students with scholarship funding, networking and professional development opportunities.
āI think this internship will help me after graduating by giving me real world experience
in a marketing department,ā she said. āIām very excited about the learning opportunities
that will be available to me at the internship, which will certainly help me in the
future.ā
JU has a longstanding relationship with Miller Electric, hiring JU students and graduates frequently in recent years. Miller has also invested in career development programs on campus, supporting the University as it prepares the next generation of business leaders. The company is also often present at the annual Career Expo, searching for JU students to fill open positions. Miller Electric CEO Henry Brown serves on the DCOB Executive Advisory Board, as well.
Miller Electric has been in Jacksonville since 1928 and has grown to be one of the largest electrical contractors in the market with more than 3,000 employees and 19 locations. The company is responsible for the electrical work in some of Jacksonvilleās most iconic projects like the lights along the Acosta Bridge and on the VyStar Tower in Downtown Jacksonville.
Mattivi hopes to work for a marketing agency following her graduation next spring.
āHaving these skills and experience will help me achieve that goal,ā she said.
